Financial Aid Financial Aid for the STNA program may be available through the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation (COWIC) or Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS). Any individual who has a limited income or is unemployed or underemployed may qualify. Individuals who receive financial aid from COWIC typically must attend job readiness training in addition to the regular STNA classes. They must also agree to work as a nurse aide for several months after graduation. Financial Aid for the STNA program may also be available through the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation or other social services agencies that serve special populations, such as people with disabilities, veterans, state employees, etc. Special Financial Aid Events Essay Contest Alia Health Career Services announces its 2nd Annual Nurse Aide Essay Contest as part of its efforts to engage students of all ages in the medical and healthcare fields. The competition is open to anyone in Ohio and throughout the region. This year’s theme attempts to answer the question: "What is the most important thing the U.S. can do to improve global health over the next 15 years?" Participating individuals are asked to submit an essay in English of no more than 800 words typed and double-spaced which addresses the topic and includes how they, as healthcare workers, can contribute to the improvement of global health including their own personal aspirations in the medical/healthcare field. The contest's prize is a full scholarship to Alia Health Career Services' STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide) Training Program is offered as a two-week (10-day) Day Class that meets Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm or as a four-week (14-day) Evening Class which meets Monday through Wednesday from 5:30pm to 10:30pm or as a seven-week (14-day) Weekend Class which meets Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00am to 1:00pm. At the conclusion of all classes is a two-day, eight-hour per day clinical held on the last two days of the session at a skilled nursing facility. It's a great way to begin a career ladder in the medical/nursing field. Day, Evening, and Weekend classes form monthly. Day Classes begin every two weeks; Evening classes begin the first Monday of every month; Weekend classes form every other month. Normally, the total price is $495 for either Day or Evening classes, and $595 for the Weekend Class. Currently, we are running a promotional campaign of $399 for the Day & Evening Classes, and $499 for the Weekend Classes. Along with a completed application and two forms of identification, a $100.00 deposit reserves a seat for an upcoming class. The deposit applies towards the tuition and a payment plan is usually arranged for the remaining balance. Required is a TB skin test which is offered for $15.00 to registered students. A uniform consisting of white top and maroon bottom scrubs is required to be worn to class daily as well as to clinicals. CPR (two-year certification) and First Aide (three-year certification) is also available on an optional basis for a discounted price of $55.00 to registered students. A $100.00 fee is required for those students taking the State Test at the end of the program. Alia Health Career Services is a regionally approved testing site for the STNA state examination and conducts testing of its students on-site.
